The Challenge.
Cool School had 3.5 billion watch minutes and no internal design infrastructure. No brand governance, no systems, no Art Department. A YouTube channel that needed to become a professional brand ecosystem across apps, retail, and licensing — without losing what made it resonate with millions of kids.
Cool School
The Insight.
The creative wasn't the problem — the infrastructure was. Scale without systems creates brand drift. The work wasn't to redesign Cool School. It was to build the architecture that let Cool School stay Cool School at any size.
The Result.
Cynopsis Award winner. Sustained 3.5B+ minutes of reach with 100% brand integrity. Successfully expanded into a mobile app ecosystem, subscription lead-gen funnels, and a physical retail strategy through Simon Malls.
Branding and App Icons
UX Logic: Architecting the path from high-energy content to secure, subscription-based educational milestones.
Interface Detail & Metadata Strategy: Codifying the application’s information hierarchy. I established the content categorization and metadata standards (Genre, Rating, Credits) to ensure a professionalized, searchable user experience.
The Strategy.
Building the Art Department from zero meant establishing a centralized source of truth before a single new asset was produced — a Brand Bible and Video Style Guidelines that defined motion math, typography specs, RGB color values, shadow specifications, and grid rules for global production partners. The Master Sitemap unified character pillars — Ms. Booksy, Crafty Carol — with app-conversion funnels and subscription lead-gen into a single coherent information architecture. The Cool School Reading App UX was architected around gamified retention loops and math-based Parental Gates for safety compliance — translating high-energy content into a secure, subscription-based educational milestone journey. The Simon Malls O2O strategy created a turnkey retail concept to convert digital watch time into physical foot traffic — extending the brand world from screen to space.
